There are many stories about the evils of corporations.

Many people loathe them. And sometimes it’s with good reason. One needs to look no further than Enron to know that.

But occasionally, a story about these companies is different — where these corporations do good. This is such a story.

Gun reform is vitally needed. We know that. And it would seem 228 CEOs know that as well.

That is the number of CEOs who have signed onto a letter. In this letter, they urge the Senate to take up decisive action on gun reform.

These companies range from all different types of industries, but one thing unites them — they’re using their power for good.

Here are some of the companies who have signed onto this letter:

Lyft.

Doordash.

The Cleveland Guardians.

NerdWallet

Bain Capital

Unilever

Yelp

Credit Karma

Levi Strauss

Here is how the letter begins:

“We, the undersigned CEOs, represent American companies from across the country.”

“Like you, we continue to bear witness to the toll of America’s gun violence epidemic and its impact on our communities.”

“Our country needs you to take bold action to address our gun violence epidemic.”

“In recent weeks, our country has been forced to reckon with the killings at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, the equally horrifying events at the Tops Market in Buffalo, and the 14 additional mass shootings that took place in just the ten days between the two.”

I applaud this letter. And I also applaud these CEOs. Anytime someone in a position of power — uses said position to do good — it ignites a warm glow that isn’t felt enough.

It certainly is felt here, though, and we thank and commend the Chief Executives who chose to do this. Hopefully, there is plenty more where that came from.
