Donald Trump is not fit for anything at all, let alone sit in the Oval Office as “president” of the United States. The cover of Military Times says it all. Although this news is just coming to the forefront, it is certainly worth discussing. Military Times and the Atlantic both reported that Trump referred to dead war heroes as “suckers” and “losers.” The soldiers of World War II gave the ultimate sacrifice — their lives — for the good of our country. Yet, this cowardly, draft-dodging man had the nerve to disparage these fallen heroes.
Listening to Trump speak is painful. He refers to states as “blue” and “red.” There are not blue and red states; we are the United States of America. When Joe Biden accepted the Democratic nomination, he said that whether voters support him or not, he will be the American president who represents all people. That is what a president is supposed to do. We are all one people, and the sooner we accept and find value in that, the better off we will all be. Trump does not see this, and he is not — and never was — the right person for this job. Biden, on the other hand, is having none of Trump’s nonsense.
CNN reported that Joe Biden denounced Trump’s ignorant words and said that if what the Atlantic published is true, “Donald Trump is not fit to be president.” He is most certainly not fit, and it is not just that the Atlantic published the words, but Trump was overheard saying them. According to a senior member of Trump’s staff, on the morning of a planned visit to Aisne-Marne American Cemetery 2018, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed. No, “president” Trump, you are the loser, and those who continue to support you are the suckers.
Joe Biden was extremely emotional in his denouncement of Trump, repeatedly saying “My son was not a sucker,” prefaced by Beau Biden’s activities in and with the military. Trump obviously does not care about who he insulted with his thoughtless comments. Maybe he will care in November when all of the offspring of those war heroes refuse to vote for such an unfeeling, thoughtless, callous man who would say such things about their fathers, mothers, siblings, and everyone else in the military.
Trump has, of course, denied the allegations, but Joe Biden, in his speech, reminded us of the horrible things Trump said about John McCain back in 2015, “I like people who weren’t captured.” Guess what, Trump? We like people who were willing to lay down their lives for the sake of every other person in this country. We like people who recognize the honor of serving as president of this great country. We like people who can display humility, empathy, and everything that you are not. In November, we will ensure that we get people we like in the White House.
