🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺 HODGES: WITKOFF AND KUSHNER WENT TO MOSCOW, CAME BACK WITH THE KREMLIN’S MESSAGE, AND ACHIEVED “ABSOLUTELY ZERO”

Hodges delivered a scathing assessment of Witkoff and Kushner’s latest diplomacy, arguing that their trip produced nothing positive and exposed what he sees as the fundamental flaw in the Trump administration’s approach to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

He described their behavior toward Putin as embarrassing, then accused them of traveling to Kyiv essentially to relay Moscow’s position without bringing anything new to the table.

At the same time, he noted, Russian forces were killing Ukrainian civilians while the diplomacy was taking place.

Hodges argues the deeper problem is that the Trump administration either does not understand or does not care about how the war began. In his view, Washington is focused primarily on claiming credit for ending the fighting, even if that means allowing Russia to secure what it wants and then moving quickly back toward business with Moscow.

That, he says, is precisely why Ukraine will not accept the proposed approach.

Hodges also praised Zelenskyy 🇺🇦 for bringing Britain, Germany and France into the process, allowing European partners to see the negotiations firsthand.

He believes Washington never possessed much leverage over Kyiv in the first place. Ukrainians, he argues, cooperated for as long as possible partly in the hope that Patriot support might restart.

His conclusion is bleak: he now doubts that will happen, and sees little reason for optimism from the current diplomatic track.
