Russian President Vladimir Putin held more than three hours of talks with U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin, as Washington seeks to revive stalled efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Putin thanked Trump for continuing his efforts to resolve the conflict and said Witkoff and Kushner had Moscow’s full trust. Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov described the discussions as substantive, constructive and extremely frank, saying Russia presented its assessment of the battlefield and stressed the need to address what it calls the root causes of the conflict. The Kremlin said the talks also covered potential large-scale Russian-American economic projects. The meeting coincided with Putin’s order for a three-day halt to Russian strikes on Kyiv, while the U.S. envoys are expected to continue their diplomatic mission in Kyiv.
